  • Foundations: Voices of Faith, Arts, and Letters
    Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025)

This inaugural issue of Immersed: A Journal of Faith, Arts, and Letters represents a significant milestone in our commitment to cultivating and showcasing the intellectual and creative work of undergraduate and graduate students. The title Immersed reflects the journal’s central vision: to invite readers and contributors into a deep engagement with the interconnected layers of faith, imagination, scholarship, and cultural expression. To be immersed is to be fully present; thoughtfully attentive, spiritually grounded, and artistically responsive to the complexities of the world and the narratives that shape us.

The journal exists to elevate student scholarship that thoughtfully explores the intersections of spiritual formation, cultural context, biblical interpretation, theological inquiry, artistic expression, and the literary imagination. Every piece in this collection reflects a willingness to wrestle boldly with ideas, to question and create, and to articulate how faith informs not only belief but also academic exploration, creative practice, and lived experience.

In this debut volume, contributors offer a rich range of essays, reflections, poetry, creative works, and analytical studies. Their pieces examine a range of topics, from ecological themes in beloved literature to socio-historical biblical analysis, personal meditations, and explorations of leadership, storytelling, and the human experience. Together, these works demonstrate the depth, diversity, and insight that student scholars bring to conversations at the intersection of faith and the arts.

We are honored to publish this inaugural issue and to provide a platform where student voices can make meaningful contributions to ongoing academic and creative dialogues. Their scholarship embodies what it means to be immersed—to think deeply, to create boldly, and to engage the world with both intellect and imagination.

A complete list of articles in this issue is provided below, representing the remarkable breadth of inquiry and creativity that defines this journal’s mission.

With gratitude for entering this work with us,
