The Mind of the Writer
Keywords:
Faith and literature, C.S Lewis and Dorothy Sayers, Non-fiction analysisAbstract
This paper examines the connection between Christian faith and creative/academic work. By using influential Christian scholars, C.S. Lewis and Dorothy Sayers, I aim to provide insight into how they viewed the creative process and how it connected with their faith. I hope this will allow students who struggle with seeing the connection between their faith and their work to feel encouraged and excited that what they are working on or creating can have real-world application and impact. The paper will also challenge Christian writers to evaluate how they create and the conditions of their writing process. The content and depth of their writing, portraying the world accurately, and writing with integrity are all ways Lewis and Sayers suggest faith can connect and influence writing through examining their non-fiction works "On Stories" and The Mind of the Maker, respectively.
