Abstract

"On Doing Nothing" is inspired by a passage from C. S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters--creatively borrowing some of its words and phrasing while also paring it with a new speaker and imagery to demonstrate how the temptations Screwtape teaches Wormwood might look and feel like in a different context. The poem, in borrowing from the passage, also encourages the reader to further investigate what the Letters are all about.
